Standard Operating Procedures

We offer 3 classes of Metal Polishing Finishes:

• 2x2 - 2 Stage Sand, 2 Stage Polish
• The AMP Standard - 5 Stage Sand, 3 Stage Polish
• Custom Polishing - 5+Sand, 5+ Stage Polish

2x2

2 Stage + 2 Stage is an incredible option for those who don’t necessarily want to go all out, save a bit of cash in the short term, and still see incredible results. This option is Most Popular for guys who are headed to the auction and looking to make a bit more money on their unit, or get a quicker, easier sale out of the rig. Studies show that on average, every $3000 spent on cosmetic refurbishments will return $7000 - $10 000 at auction.

AMP Standard

Includes 5 stages of sanding and 3 stages of polishing for a seamless, mirror finish. It’s important to do those 5 stages of sanding, as opposed to 2 stages, to maximize shine. Doing a 3rd polishing stage between Heavy Cut and Finish allows for a Color stage to be done, enhancing the depth, color, and overall sheen of the metal.

Custom

Custom Polishing is where we truly excel, and is our desired workload. We enjoy having the ability to sand as much as necessary to get the piece to a perfectly refinished standpoint before Polishing. We typically run a 5 Stage Polish at minimum for anything custom, but we easily catch ourselves doing 6 and sometimes even 7 stages, depending on the piece.

Product

We only use High Quality sandpaper, buffs, and products. Sure this may make things a bit more expensive on our end – but when it comes to seamless finishes it’s important that you only use the highest quality abrasives on the market. The worst thing you can do is cheap-out on supplies.

AMP is strict on Quality Control. All of the products we use, but a few are made from the reputable manufacturers over at Marpol and Menzerna.

Prep

Taking the time and patience to Acidize the metal on the truck, Wash the Cab, Mask off any painted trim pieces, and pay close attention when sanding to exactly what it is you’re working on, and the imperfections you’re trying to correct. A 9000 RPM Sander in the wrong hands can easily create more imperfections than before, such as waves or other inconsistencies in the metal. This is why it’s important to have a skilled, seasoned crew like Alberta Metal Polishing on the job.

Sweat

Polishing an entire truck in 2 or 3 days is not a task for the weak. Sure, some can do it - but maintaining the high level of quality, meeting those high expectations and not forgetting a thing along the way is the name of the game!
